Spooky Halloween Spaghetti with Mozzarella Eyeballs
A fun and creepy pasta dish that makes for a perfect spooky meal.
easy.enzo81.xyzNothing says Halloween quite like a plate of pasta that stares back at you. This spooky spaghetti is a favorite in my house because it is simple to make and always gets a good laugh from the kids.
The key to this dish is the mozzarella eyeballs. They look impressive but take only a few seconds to assemble using fresh mozzarella balls and sliced olives. It turns a standard dinner into a festive event.
Ingredients
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 12 fresh mozzarella balls
- 12 black olives, pitted and sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Grated parmesan cheese for serving
6Instructions
- 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package directions until al dente.
- 2
While the pasta cooks, warm your favorite marinara sauce in a large saucepan over low heat.
- 3
Prepare the eyeballs by placing a slice of black olive into the center of each mozzarella ball.
- 4
Drain the pasta and toss it with the warm marinara sauce until well coated.
- 5
Transfer the spaghetti to plates and nestle the mozzarella eyeballs on top of the pasta so they peek out.
- 6
Serve immediately with an extra sprinkle of parmesan cheese if you like.
Tips
Store the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. If you want a thicker sauce, stir in a little bit of the starchy pasta water before adding the mozzarella balls. These eyeballs also work great as a topping for baked ziti or any other red sauce pasta.
