I am so happy to share this chocolate almond cake with you. It has become a staple in my kitchen because it is incredibly rich, satisfying, and easy to stir together by hand. Since it uses almond flour, the texture is wonderfully moist and tender.

This cake is perfect for those who love the deep flavor of dark chocolate. It works just as well for a quick afternoon snack as it does for a celebration. If you like making things that are simple but taste like they came from a high end bakery, you are going to love this one.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups almond flour
  • Optional: Sliced almonds for topping

7Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9 inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.

  3. 3

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla and salt.

  4. 4

Gently fold in the almond flour until the batter is well combined.

  5. 5

Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. 6

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before moving it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips

Serve this cake at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream or fresh berries. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you want a little extra crunch, toast your sliced almonds briefly before sprinkling them on top.
