This dinner has become a household favorite because it feels special enough for a Sunday supper but is actually quite simple to put together. The balance of the salty bacon and the sweet maple soy glaze makes every bite feel like a treat.

For the best results, try to find salmon fillets that are similar in thickness so they cook at the same rate. This meal pairs perfectly with a side of creamy mashed potatoes if you want to make it an extra hearty feast.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, halved
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

8Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, and sesame oil in a small bowl.

  2. 2

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the glaze over them, letting them marinate while you prep the vegetables.

  3. 3

Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until it starts to get crispy.

  4. 4

Add the Brussels sprouts to the skillet with the bacon fat and cook until they are tender and caramelized, about 10 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove the sprouts from the pan and set aside.

  6. 6

Add the salmon to the same skillet, skin side down, and cook for 4 to 5 minutes.

  7. 7

Flip the salmon carefully and pour the remaining marinade into the pan, cooking for another 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the fish is cooked through.

  8. 8

Serve the salmon alongside the warm Brussels sprouts.

Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat the salmon gently in a pan over low heat to keep it from drying out.
