Herb Butter Roast Turkey Breast
Enjoy all the holiday turkey flavors you love with this easy and stress free recipe.
easy.enzo81.xyzRoasting a turkey breast is my favorite holiday shortcut. There is no whole bird to wrestle, the prep is refreshingly easy, and carving is as simple as slicing the meat off the bone.
The flavor is wonderful because of the butter mixture made with fresh herbs, garlic, and citrus. Roasting it over a bed of vegetables creates amazing drippings for your gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 bone in turkey breast, about 5 to 7 pounds
- 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 large carrots, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
8Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic, sage, thyme, rosemary, lemon zest, Dijon mustard, and smoked paprika.
- 3
Place the chopped carrots, celery, and onion in the bottom of a roasting pan.
- 4
Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels and season it with salt and pepper.
- 5
Gently loosen the skin and spread some of the herb butter underneath, then rub the remaining butter all over the top of the skin.
- 6
Place the turkey on top of the vegetables in the pan.
- 7
Roast for about 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until an internal thermometer reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 8
Let the turkey rest for at least 15 minutes before carving to keep the meat juicy.
Tips
Use the pan drippings to make a quick gravy on the stove while the turkey rests. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
