Creamy Louisiana Chicken Pasta
A rich and comforting pasta dish featuring crispy parmesan chicken over bowtie noodles in a spicy Cajun cream sauce.
easy.enzo81.xyzIf you love that famous restaurant pasta, you are going to be so happy with this version. It has the perfect kick from the Cajun seasoning combined with a velvety sauce that coats every single bite of pasta.
I like to add extra bell peppers and mushrooms to make it feel like a complete meal. It is a fantastic choice for a weekend dinner when you want something a little fancy but easy to pull together in your own kitchen.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 12 ounces bowtie pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning for the sauce
- Salt and black pepper to taste
10Instructions
- 1
Combine the Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and one teaspoon of Cajun seasoning in a shallow bowl.
- 2
Press the chicken breasts into the breadcrumb mixture until they are well coated on all sides.
- 3
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside to rest.
- 4
Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the bowtie pasta according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
- 5
In the same skillet used for the chicken, melt the butter over medium heat.
- 6
Add the bell peppers and mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until they soften.
- 7
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for one minute until fragrant.
- 8
Pour in the heavy cream and the remaining Cajun seasoning. Let the sauce simmer gently for 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- 9
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss well to coat it in the creamy sauce.
- 10
Slice the chicken into strips and serve it on top of the pasta.
Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. If the sauce gets too thick when reheating, add a splash of milk or broth to loosen it up. This dish pairs perfectly with a side of crusty garlic bread.
