This is my favorite meal for those nights when I want a home cooked dinner without a sink full of pots and pans. You just toss the sausage, pasta, and sauce together and let the oven do all the hard work while you relax.

The rigatoni soaks up all the flavor from the sauce and tomatoes, making every bite rich and delicious. Make sure you cover the dish tightly with foil so the pasta cooks perfectly in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 16 ounces uncooked rigatoni pasta
  • 15 ounce jar Alfredo sauce
  • 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes with juices
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

8Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and find a large baking dish that measures about 9 by 13 inches.

  2. 2

Place a skillet over medium heat and brown the sausage until it is fully cooked through.

  3. 3

Drain any grease from the skillet and pour the cooked sausage into your baking dish.

  4. 4

Add the uncooked pasta, Alfredo sauce, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and oregano to the pan.

  5. 5

Stir everything together well and add the salt and pepper.

  6. 6

Cover the dish very tightly with aluminum foil and bake it for 35 to 40 minutes.

  7. 7

Take the dish out of the oven and remove the foil to give the pasta a good stir.

  8. 8

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top and bake for 5 to 10 more minutes until the cheese is bubbly.

Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. When you are ready to eat it again, add a tiny splash of milk before heating to help the sauce get creamy again.
