If you are looking for the perfect snack for your next gathering, these bar nuts are always a hit. They have a wonderful balance of savory, sweet, and a tiny bit of heat that makes them impossible to put down. People love them because they are much better than plain store bought snacks but still incredibly easy to throw together.

I recommend using fresh rosemary here because it makes such a big difference in the final flavor. If you find yourself wanting a little extra crunch, tossing in some mini pretzels is a great way to bulk up the snack mix without changing the method at all.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsalted roasted mixed nuts
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dark brown muscovado sugar or regular brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt flakes

7Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

Spread the mixed nuts and pretzels onto a baking sheet in a single layer.

  3. 3

Roast the nuts and pretzels for about 10 minutes until they are lightly browned and fragrant.

  4. 4

While the nuts are in the oven, combine the melted butter, finely chopped rosemary, sugar, cayenne pepper, and salt in a large mixing bowl.

  5. 5

Transfer the hot nuts and pretzels directly into the bowl with the butter mixture.

  6. 6

Toss everything well with a spatula until the nuts are evenly coated in the butter and spices.

  7. 7

Serve warm or let them cool to room temperature before enjoying.

Tips

These are best served warm, but they stay delicious at room temperature for hours. You can store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week. If you want to get ahead, roast the nuts in advance and toss them with the butter mixture right before your guests arrive.
