When I am craving Italian comfort food but do not have the energy to spend all night in the kitchen, this lazy lasagna is my go to solution. It uses hearty meat and plenty of cheese to give you that authentic taste everyone loves.

My best advice is to use a high quality store bought marinara sauce to save time. It really makes the preparation feel like a breeze on a busy weeknight.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 8 ounces rotini or penne pasta
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

9Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

Cook the pasta in salted water according to the package directions until it is al dente, then drain it well.

  3. 3

While the pasta cooks, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat.

  4. 4

Drain any excess fat from the meat and stir in the marinara sauce and oregano.

  5. 5

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated.

  6. 6

Transfer half of the pasta mixture into a baking dish.

  7. 7

Dollop half of the ricotta cheese over the pasta and sprinkle with half of the mozzarella.

  8. 8

Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, ricotta, and mozzarella, then top with the parmesan cheese.

  9. 9

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat individual portions in the microwave or cover the dish with foil and warm it in the oven at 350 degrees until heated through.
