Monster cookies are a favorite in my house because they truly have everything you could want in a treat. The combination of salty peanut butter and sweet candy makes them impossible to stop at just one, and they are always a huge hit at bake sales or family gatherings.

My best tip for success is to use old fashioned rolled oats instead of instant oats. The texture stays much heartier and chewier, which pairs perfectly with the melted chocolate and crunchy candy shells.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M candies

8Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth.

  3. 3

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

Add the baking soda and salt to the bowl and mix well.

  5. 5

Slowly stir in the oats, chocolate chips, and M&M candies until everything is combined.

  6. 6

Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto your prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.

  7. 7

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are just barely golden brown.

  8. 8

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to finish cooling completely.

Tips

Store these cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days to keep them soft. You can also freeze the raw dough scoops on a tray and then move them to a freezer bag to bake fresh whenever a craving hits.
